Quick answer
Change the plan through the billing route that owns the subscription.
Audible says website-billed members can change plans from Account details. On desktop, select Switch membership, choose a plan, and confirm. On mobile web, open Membership details, then See all membership plans. If Apple App Store or Google Play bills the subscription, Audible directs you to that store's subscription controls instead. A plan change is different from cancellation, but it can still change access and billing, so read the final confirmation before accepting it.

Audible website billing
Use Account details
Audible's desktop route is Account details, then Switch membership. On mobile web, it directs members to Membership details and then See all membership plans. Review the change summary before confirming.
Apple or Google billing
Use the app store
For App Store billing, Audible points to iOS Settings or the App Store: your name, Subscriptions, Audible, then See all plans. For Google Play billing, it points to Google Play, Payments and subscriptions, Audible, Manage, then a new plan.
The plan names, availability, price, taxes, trials, and effective date shown to your account can differ by marketplace and billing channel. This guide explains the documented routes; the confirmation screen is the authoritative place for your own change.
How to change plans
Make the change, then verify the four details that matter.
- Open the subscription controls that bill you. Use Audible's Account details when Audible bills you. Otherwise, use the Apple App Store or Google Play route identified above.
- Select the plan—not a cancellation option. Audible's website route labels the action Switch membership. On mobile web, choose See all membership plans before picking the plan shown to your account.
- Read the confirmation details. Confirm the plan name, price, billing cycle, effective date, and any trial or promotional terms. Do not assume another marketplace's plan or price will match yours.
- Check credits and Library access after the change. Open Credit summary for individual credit dates, and distinguish a purchased title from a membership-provided title before relying on continued access.
Before you confirm
Credits and included titles need separate checks.
Existing credits
Check each expiry date
Audible says members who switch to Plus or Standard keep credits until their regular expiration date. Its credit guidance says website-issued credits commonly have a 12-month deadline, while App Store and Google Play-issued credits do not expire.
Listening access
Match the title to its access type
Audible says Premium includes Plus Catalog access. It also says Standard monthly selections remain available while that membership stays active, while titles bought with cash or credits are purchases. Do not treat those access types as interchangeable.
Visit the credit-expiration guide before changing a plan with unused credits. For a clearer view of the access models, compare Audible Standard and Premium. If you are deciding whether to end the plan entirely, read what happens to Audible books after cancellation first.
Avoid a surprise
A plan switch is not a promise that every benefit carries over.
Audible says that switching from Standard or Plus to Premium preserves access to prior monthly selections and included Plus Catalog titles as Premium benefits. The reverse decision changes the benefits you receive going forward: Standard has one monthly selection rather than Premium credits and Plus Catalog access. If you only need a short break rather than a different plan, a membership pause has its own eligibility and access rules.
Avoid using a cancellation flow as a substitute for switching. Audible's pre-cancellation guidance says unused membership credits can be forfeited at the end of the final billing cycle, while its switching guidance says a plan change can preserve credits until their normal expiration. Check the status presented in your account rather than inferring one action from the other.
Common questions
What to know before you choose a new plan.
Can I change Audible from Premium to Standard?
Audible's Switch plans guidance identifies Audible Standard as a plan members can switch to. It says existing credits remain usable until their regular expiration date. Standard's monthly selection and listening access are different from Premium's credits and Plus Catalog, so compare the available benefits before confirming.
Will I lose Audible credits if I switch plans?
Audible says you keep credits when switching to Plus or Standard and can use them until their regular expiration date. Check Credit summary for each credit's date and type. A cancellation may have different rules, so do not conflate a plan switch with ending membership.
Why can't I see the plan I want in Audible?
Available options can depend on marketplace, billing channel, and account status. Audible directs App Store- and Google Play-billed members to manage the subscription through that store. If the plan is not listed there or in Account details, use the current account options or Audible Help rather than assuming a plan is available.
