Can you share Audible books?

Audible says Amazon Family can share purchased Audible titles between two adult household profiles. It also lets a household select owned titles for child accounts. That does not make one account's entire Audible membership available to everyone: Audible says Premium membership credits and titles included in the Plus Catalog cannot be shared with the other adult profile.

What the other profile can use

Start by identifying the title's access type.

How to share a purchased title

Set up Amazon Family, then choose individual audiobooks.

1. Add the household profile first. Audible directs adults to Amazon Family to add another adult profile; Amazon may require the invited adult to accept. Audible says Family Library sharing supports one other adult and up to four child accounts for owned Audible titles.
2. Open Amazon's content controls. Go to Manage Your Content and Devices, choose Content, then Audiobooks, according to Audible's current instructions.
3. Select the audiobook you own. Choose the title from your Library and select Add to Library to share it with the adult profile. For a child account, Audible directs parents to the Amazon Parent Dashboard to choose the specific owned titles.
4. Confirm the right listening surface. Audible lists its iOS and Android apps, Cloud Player, Echo devices, Fire tablets, the Kindle app, and Kindle eReaders for titles shared with an adult. Child-account availability is more limited, so check Audible's current device list before relying on a particular device.

A common mix-up

The Share button can send a recommendation, not listening access.

Audible also lets you share an audiobook's details from its app or website. That sends a recommendation so the recipient can decide whether to buy the title; it does not grant the recipient access to your copy. Use Amazon Family when the goal is to let a household profile listen to a purchased title.

If a shared title is already in the other profile's Family Library, Audible says that profile cannot buy a duplicate until sharing is stopped. That is worth checking before a gift or cash purchase so the household does not create an avoidable mismatch.

Can I share every Audible title in my Library?

Not automatically. Share titles you own through Amazon Family. Audible distinguishes those purchases from Plus Catalog titles and membership credits, which are not shared with the other adult profile.

Can children use shared Audible books?

Yes, Audible says you can select owned titles for child accounts. Its help article lists different supported devices for child accounts than for adult accounts, so confirm the destination device before promising access.

Do both adults need Audible memberships?
